Helpful Information Before You Start

Teen & Adult Martial Arts FAQs

Answers to common questions about our Teen & Adult Taekwondo, self-defense, fitness, and martial arts classes in Lakeview, Chalmette, and the Greater New Orleans area.

01 Do I need martial arts experience to start?

Not at all. Our Teen & Adult classes are beginner-friendly, and every student starts at their own pace. Whether you’ve never taken a martial arts class or you’re returning after years away, our instructors will help you build confidence one class at a time.

02 Do I need to be in shape before starting?

No. Martial arts helps you become stronger, healthier, and more confident over time. You don’t need to be flexible or athletic to begin. Every class is designed so you can improve at your own pace.

03 Will I learn practical self-defense?

Yes. Our curriculum teaches practical self-defense skills, situational awareness, confidence under pressure, and defensive techniques while emphasizing self-control, responsibility, and avoiding unnecessary conflict.

04 Is martial arts good for fitness and stress relief?

Absolutely. Martial arts provides an exciting full-body workout while improving strength, endurance, coordination, flexibility, and balance. Many students also find training to be one of the best ways to reduce stress and stay mentally focused.

05 Can teens and adults train together?

Absolutely! Our Teen & Adult Martial Arts program is designed so teenagers and adults can train together in the same class while working toward their own individual goals. Our instructors tailor instruction to each student’s age, experience, and skill level, creating a welcoming environment where beginners and experienced students can continue to grow together.

Families love the opportunity to train together. Parents can share the martial arts journey with their teenager, encourage one another, celebrate belt promotions together, and spend quality time building confidence, discipline, and healthy habits as a family.

One of our favorite family benefits is that when a child is actively enrolled in any Forever Driven Martial Arts youth program, every parent and legal guardian of that child may train in our Teen & Adult Martial Arts program for six months with no monthly tuition. We believe martial arts should strengthen the entire family, and there’s no better way to lead by example than training together.

06 What should I wear to my first class?

Comfortable athletic clothing and a water bottle are all you need. No uniform or special equipment is required for your introductory class.

07 How often should I attend classes?

Most students attend two classes each week. Consistent training helps improve technique, build confidence, increase fitness, and maintain steady progress toward each new belt rank.

08 Am I too old to start martial arts?

Never. Students begin martial arts at all ages. Whether you’re a teenager looking for confidence or an adult wanting better fitness, practical self-defense, or a new challenge, it’s never too late to start.

09 Can martial arts help build confidence?

Yes. Confidence develops naturally as you overcome challenges, achieve personal goals, improve your fitness, and earn new belt ranks. Every class is another opportunity to become stronger mentally and physically.
